Freshman Fifteen!

Here is the piece that I wrote for the Peppers’ publication. What do you think? Can you relate at all?

 

Freshman Fifteen

 

“Freshman girls: get them before the fifteen does”

That’s what an upperclassman’s shirt read during the first

Weeks of my freshman year

It’s just a myth, I thought.

 

Yes, I gained the freshman fifteen.

The dining halls are much too accessible

And the gym seems so far away it’s almost inaccessible.

It’s not a myth.

 

These changes with my body are enough

To make me cry, to make me try dieting

These changes are enough to

Make me want to go to Friendly’s

And get a two scoop

 

Yes, I gained the freshman fifteen

And the sophomore fifteen

And the junior fifteen.

Thank goodness for summers

 

For they help me to regulate all of these college fifteens.
